The Norwegian Alpine Club (NTK) and Visit Lofoten invites alpine climbers from all over the world to Lofoten. This is a yearly and open meeting for alpine climbers. We are looking forward to get together, put up new lines, climb classic routes and share experiences.

All alpine climbers are welcome to the alpine climbers meet in Lofoten, Svolvær 26 February to 4 March.

Location: Vestfjord Hotel Svolvær

Great climbing nearby Svolvær (20 to 60 minutes’ drive) and offers pure ice climbing, alpine walls and ice-filled colours that lead up to great peaks with amazing views.

Participants at the meeting must be independent in terms of climbing equipment, and the selection and execution of the climb. The NTK websites will publish a selection of routes that has been much climbed in recent years, and one must choose trip according to ability, at your own risk.

Program for the Alpine Climbing meet in Lofoten 2012

Interesting lectures and slideshows Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8pm at Bacalao Bar, located on the quay in Svolvær. Entrance Fee: 50, -

On Saturday the lecture will be held at the hotel at 8pm.

Thursday - Sunday:

On the evening of Thursday through Saturday between 18:30 and 19:30, an experienced climber hold a briefing on alpine climbing with the following themes: Planning and execution of the climb. General information about equipment selection, use of maps, snow conditions at the approach and decent, and choosing the line for climbing and return.

Thursday - Sunday from 9am to 13pm on a smaller mountain near Svolvær:

Focus on Alpine Climbing Techniques: Use of ax, crampons and hedge funds on rock and ice. Alpine anchors, belays and methods.

These "workshops" is not any form of mountain guiding, but an orientation and a way of sharing experience on the various options when alpine climbing. Option of doing your own tours afterwards. Max six participants per group. Registration is done directly with the NTK contacts.

There will be some rental cars available, and a shuttle, but the no one can guarantee full transfer coverage every day. Those who wants to rent a car, contact www.rentacar-lofoten.com

Breakfast, dinner and social happenings with Vestfjord Hotel as a base.

Prices for accommodation in a double room is 395, - including breakfast and self made lunch.

The information office at the front desk is open every morning 07-09am and every evening between 6 and 7pm. Here you can find information on routes, conditions, etc. For those who lack a climbing partner will be able to find a suitable one on a list.
